Character development isn&#039;t something that was really &quot;created&quot;—it&#039;s more like a set of techniques and craft elements that have been honed and identified over time. In that same way, Freytag didn&#039;t really create plot structure, he simply identified a structure that was common to a lot of plots in the Western literary canon. I hope this helps!
